Amaya

It's weird how taking 40 hours of your week and putting towards a job can really take away from blogging. Weird.

Nevertheless, Amaya is Amazing.

This New World

Now that Amaya's scooting/rolling/quasi-crawling skills are improving, she finds herself in some new environments, such as under a chair, that are pretty new to her. It makes me happy to see how long these new things keep her entertained.

This Child is Spectacular

I was sitting at my desk while Amaya was playing with Lisa on the couch. She saw me over the couch and smiled at me. And like every day for the past year, I completely fell in love all over again. How could I not?

Pigtails! Barettes!

The day I had the interview for my job I felt so optimistic (and rightfully so, I got the job!) that Lisa and I bought these little clips and elastics at Target in celebration. Lisa did an amazing job distracting her while I put them in, never before has she let me put anything in her hair without her grabbing it and trying to eat it.

I love them, every once in a while it's nice to have a girly little baby. But only once in a while.

That face!

I was so excited when I realized her hair is long enough for pigtails! She looks so grown up!

A Birthday Celebration

Amaya's birthday isn't until Monday, but we had a little party last night so that some friends could come over and we could celebrate together.

Sweet Amaya in her birthday outfit.

Looking over her cupcake iceberg.

Webcamming with the grandparents.

Still doesn't really get it.

And then the camera told me that the memory card was full. Perfect timing. Luckily Kevin and Emily were there to take lots of pictures, so I will post them when I get them. Overall it was great fun, even the hours of making those funny little cupcakes, and a chance to celebrate the past wonderful year and how happy we are to be Amaya's parents.

All I've ever wanted

Amaya is a very sweet baby, but by no means a cuddly baby. She only sleeps in her crib, and she only hugs you if she's trying to reach something behind you. So yesterday, she was super hyper and didn't take either of her naps, so when she had her nighttime bottle, she totally fell asleep in my arms. Like completely, completely. To the point that I could walk out to the living room and document it! I know I should have waken her up and got her ready for bed, but I couldn't. I just sat there and let her sleep on my chest for almost 20 minutes. It was all I've ever wanted.

Food. Everywhere.

As you can tell from Amaya's cheeks, hands and thighs, she had no problem eating. Except that she occasionally likes to smear it every where. Like this morning: Banana. Everywhere.

And of course today she was all dressed up for Lisa's birthday, but with the mess she made of a banana, I really didn't want to try chocolate frosting, I guess we'll get to see it this weekend.

John lighting Lisa's candles with the creme brulee torch.

Amaya's new love: string cheese. Much less messy = my new favorite food for her.

Hopefully coming soon:
She's been pulling herself to a stand in her crib, but we never catch it on camera. And I got little elastics to put her hair in pig-tails! I think it's finally long enough.

Sharing Mealtime

Eggs and Bagels for breakfast, I have no idea how that egg got on her cheek.

First taste of cow's milk, she loves drinking out of big glasses.

Seems to like it. (No go, it gave her a rash.)

We got her this little bowl because it has a suction cup on it so she can't pick it up/throw it, but that only lasted about a minute.

Almost there

Amaya's birthday is in 8 days! I can not believe how amazing this year has been (not to say that is was easy). We're excited for her little cupcake party with friends this weekend and for the many amazing years to come.
