I put up a bunch of pictures on my facebook, so I figured while I'm waiting for Amaya to go to sleep I might as well post them here too.
Emily and Pamela got her this cute cute little outfit.
More uses for the boppy.
Her cute little dress.
You can't tell, but these shoes are about an inch too big for her feet, and an inch is a lot for feet this little.
Her first bottle.
Mom loves this one, with her too big hat she looked like a catholic bishop or something.
Her lovely bedhead.
Her favorite place to nap.

Poaching Pictures
Our friends Amber and Johnny P came to the hospital when Amaya was born and Amber got some really good pictures. So I'm stealing them from her website and posting them on mine. (She's so generous, I'm hoping she won't mind.)
She was like this all day, alert and staring...it was unnerving. And I just realized she had absolutely no eyebrows back then. Oh heavens.
Quite possibly my favorite Amaya picture.
Johnny P with Amaya, as he said "holding babies is so punk rock."

Mornings
Amaya usually does pretty well at night, she'll eat and go right back to sleep, but around 6 or 7 in the morning she's ready for the day but I'm still exhausted. Our compromise is that I bring her in bed with me for a few hours while I quasi-nap (on a good day) or keep her entertained with the least amount of energy expended (on most days). As much as I wish she would just sleep, this usually is one of my favorite times of the day.
Amaya is almost getting to the stage where she'll reach for something that interests her. And I think she's starting to realize I'm her mom, finally!
She makes so many cute little sounds when she is trying to wake up! (And yes, that's a puddle of spit up her elbow is sitting in.)
John said, "Oh look, she's a little Jelly Bean"

Weekend in Park City
While Dad and Nan were here we spent the weekend up in Park City. For being the first time that Amaya has spent the night out of the house, she did pretty well. Meaning that she, nor us, slept at all. We did enjoy walking around main street, and for whatever reason everyone we walked by got so excited about her (probably because she is amazingly adorable).
John took some other pictures with his new camera, but selfishly refuses to post them.
In the morning, when we gave up on trying to get her to sleep and just brought her in bed with us. Amaya is wide awake, John is exhausted.

Of course, once we are wide awake she falls asleep. Good thing the condo had cable, if we'd get up or try and set her down she'd wake up.

Grandparents
Mom came down right when Amaya was born and stayed for three weeks, then Juan came down for the weekend. Then just last week, Dad, Nan and Cody came to visit as well.
This was one of her first smiles, at least one of the first ones we caught on camera.
Dad and Amaya recovering from Jet-lag together.
Cody and Amaya, also co-napping.

Church-going Amaya
The kids in our primary class (at least the girls) get so excited about Amaya. They had a waiting list of who got to hold her first the day she was born. Amaya also has a tendency to sleep with one or both of her arms straight up in the air, so when we ask who wants to give the opening prayer or answer a question, they get quite the kick out of pointing out that Amaya is raising her hand to volunteer.
The girls, waiting their turn.
And Justin, who has no interest in holding Amaya.

From John's Phone
After Amaya's sleeping miracles, she went back to a not so great sleeping phase, which leaves little time for posting more pictures. John posted pictures from the day Amaya was blessed on his blog.
Not to be outdone, I offer a few grainy pictures from our camera phones.

I don't really know why John took this picture, but she is pretty cute.
I had to sit like this for an hour, it was the only way she would sleep. But she held on so sweetly to my finger, that I melted and was happy to do it.
An early shot of her in bundle me (thanks Amber!) in her carseat. She was so tiny!
Dwarfed in her new, substantially bigger, carseat.

Sleeping Miracles
Yes, I know you can't really see anything in this picture, but it is a picture of Amaya last night when she slept from 10:30 until 3:43! Five hours! A new record. And what's more, when I went in to check on her, she was wide awake, serenely looking around her crib, barely whining and fussing. She ate and then went right back to sleep.
Miracle #2, tonight after her bath and "dinner" I put her in her crib and (of course) as I laid her down she became wide awake and alert. But rather than get fussy, she just kind of laid there looking at the shadows and the bars on her crib. When I came back a few minutes later she was still calmly looking around, and when I came back a few minutes later she was completely asleep! She put herself to sleep! I am so proud.

Entering the Fussy Phase
Amaya has been an incredibly calm, attentive baby. But lately she's just seemed a little frustrated most of the time and she hasn't been sleeping as well, which I'm sure contributes to the problem. The internet/baby books tell me this will more than likely keep getting worse until she is 6 weeks old (Sunday after next), then will gradually get better. In the meantime we have several things that keep her pretty calm, like walking her up and down the hallway. And I keep forgetting I can't turn the camera sideays on the video mode. I apologize, I'm sleep deprived!
